2018 UTME Candidates To Register Under CCTV Cameras

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that all candidates for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME) must register under the lenses of the CCTV Camera.

It also said the footage of registration processes of each candidate must be uploaded to the Board Headquarters.

This was part of fresh standardization rules, guidelines and registration processes issued to licensed operators of Computer Based Test (CBT) centres on Thursday.

According to the new rule contained in a statement by the Board’s registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, the fresh rules were necessary to eliminate fraudulent practices in the system ahead of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, examination.

CBT operators are now also required to ensure that as soon as candidates complete their registration, they should upload the handwritten forms of the candidates. This it said will make easy for whatever errors to be easily identified and traced.

Oloyede disclosed that there were errors in the registration exercise in the UTME 2017.

“This has led to many candidates requesting for one form of correction of data or the other,” he said.

In its effort to eliminate all forms of errors and also hold people responsible for negligence and mischief, the registrar said, “All candidates must register under the lenses of the CCTV Camera and the footage of which should be uploaded to the Board Headquarters. We have discussed with the telecommunication service providers the details of the required bandwidth and data for the operation.

“These measures are aimed at curtailing the need and demand for corrections. Thus, any centre that makes a mistake during the registration, as will be proven by the uploaded forms and CCTV footage, will be liable for such errors as they will not be paid for the total number of candidates they have committed such errors.

This measure has become necessary as it has come to the notice of the Board that some centres make deliberate mistakes in order to extort candidates.

“The process of scanning and uploading completed forms by candidates has to be done meticulously. The details of this process would also be explained later.

“In addition, scanning of passport photograph would not be accepted anymore. Rather real time capturing of candidates’ photo at the centre would now be the rule”, Oloyede said.

This is against previous practice where CBT centres operated under different capacities, with tendency for manual registration and distribution of candidates, prejudice and sharp practices by operators.

The board had announced the blacklisting of 72 of the 600 (CBT) centres used for the 2017 UTME across the country due to their alleged involvement in extortion and “organised examination malpractice” during the UTME.

Harrysong reacts to lawsuit filed against him by Kcee

Harrysong this evening shared a copy of a court paper filed against him by his former record label mate, Kcee at the High Court in Lagos. In an exclusive interview with LIB, Harrysong said he doesn't know why members of his former record label are bent on frustrating his moves. Harrysong who is currently in Asaba for his show said
"I was in my house before I traveled here and they said Kcee sent court papers to me. I don't know what I have done again. I asked him what have I done again, he did not say anything. I don't know what this is about. I don't know my offence.
These guys are just saying they are upset with me. Angry with me? What have I done? I don't know what their problem is? Anytime I want to do something or they see anything that is coming up that is good about me, they come to fight and to pull me down. So I don't know what the problem is. People would talk to me that I should stay humble, don't fight them back. Even when they are oppressing me, I don't say anything. I am just tired. Maybe after these shows, I would now seat with my team to see what to do".

Actress, Remi Surutu Pens Emotional Tribute To Her Daughter As She Is Laid To Rest Today

She was buried earlier today at the Ebony Vault, Ikoyi .
Dearest AYOMIKUN,
As a mother and child, it is natural we share both physical and abstract tours, laughter, pain and compliments; but we honestly shared a bond I cannot find a most appropriate adjective for it yet.

As your friend, It has never been in my intentions to see you go through any form of pain. But as human, pain can emanate from any form and when your pain began, I have always sought God’s favour to transfer your pains so you will be fully lively as you want. And in your pain, you were strong for us. We went everywhere together.

You were my immediate younger sister and remain one of the best things that ever happened to me. My confidante. You have never forsaken me or your sister. Dupe and Demilade will miss you.
I will keep your memories forever; and in all honesty I can only console myself with the believe that I will see you again my beautiful, precious daughter.
Please rest well till we meet to part no more my love. My prayers and affection for you will be eternal.

I have said thank you to all that are helping to give you a lasting resting place.

France To ‘Ban All Petrol And Diesel Vehicles By 2040’

France plans to outlaw all petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040, its new environment minister, Nicolas Hulot, has announced.

It will also ban any “new project to use petrol, gas or coal”, as well as shale oil, by 2040.

The radical measure were unveiled at a press conference this morning as part of French president Emmanuel Macron’s plans to make France a carbon neutral country by 2050 and “make the planet great again”.

Mr Hulot, a former star wildlife TV presenter, announced “the end of the sale of petrol or vehicles between now and 2040.”

The French will in the meantime be offered financial incentives to scrap their polluting vehicles for clean alternatives, he said. Concretely, “the government will offer each French person a bonus to replace their diesel car dating before 1997 or petrol from before 2001 by a new or second-hand vehicle,” he said.

Veteran Actor Richard Mofe Damijo Shares His Success Story As He Clocks 56

Nollywood big boy, oh well, lets say all-round success, RMD is 56 today and he decided to share his story with the younger generation saying he didn’t wake up as RMD. Actually he worked towards it. Happy birthday sir!

His inspiring words below…

Patoranking’s “Nobody wey nor fit to make am o” is the apt theme song for my life as I celebrate my 56th birthday today. From Welfare Road Warri, Delta State to the Silver Screen, it’s been an often times surreal experience that anyone who has made it from a similar place of obscurity can relate to. I believe my journey, like most journeys to greatness usually start from self belief.

It’s hard for me to believe I have done 34 years post graduation. There’s been struggles, uncertainties, living abroad seeking greener pastures, returning home, businesses have risen, flourished and some fallen.

There’s been a marriage, a painful death, another blessed marriage, joyous births and more academic pursuits and degrees.

There’s been my sojourn in government for 8 years, the birth of my precious grandchildren and the return that was first scary till I felt the overwhelming love and support of my ever growing fan base. What a journey. What a packed 56years. I am indeed grateful and thankful.

No, I didn’t wake up like this (as RMD), No, I didn’t always know that I would “make it”.

It’s been Faith, Hard work, Self development and more work. But above all I have been more graced than my efforts could ever have done which is why in this journey,

God is my ride or die and today I return all the glory to Him.

I Can’t Guarantee Trophies Next Season – Pep Guardiola Says

Pep Guardiola says he does not need to win a trophy in his second season at Manchester City, even if he considers his first campaign to have been a “disaster.”

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola failed to win anything in his first year at the Etihad Stadium — the first time he has finished a season without silverware in his managerial career.

He is set for an expensive overhaul of his squad this summer to try to improve on City’s third-place finish and Champions League round-of-16 exit last season.

However, speaking at a charity event in Belfast hosted by golfer Rory McIlroy, he says he cannot guarantee success.

“I don’t think anyone regarded it as a season of transition — if you don’t win a trophy it is a disaster — but we still won’t begin this season thinking we need to win that trophy and this trophy,” he was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

“You’ve got to try to enjoy the process of building a team and keep striving to get better every day. What’s important is that the supporters know that when you go out you put your heart on the pitch.

“That’s what you can guarantee, but win? No. You want to win, of course, but so do the other ones.”

Guardiola also told a 2,000-strong audience that they should enjoy the ability to watch Lionel Messi before he retires because he is the best player he has ever seen.

“Why is he the best footballer I have ever seen? When the guy from above saw him, he just put a tick next to everything,” Guardiola said.

“He’s not only got the ability to see everything on a pitch, he scores three goals every game. He doesn’t say much but he gets the message across to the manager, his teammates and the spectators that he’s there.

“Knowing that they relax, they know that at some point he is going to make a dribble and score or make an assist. He’s the ultimate competitor, there’s nothing he likes more than cup finals or playing Real Madrid.

“If I have one piece of advice, it is that when Barcelona are playing, make sure you switch on the television. Because when he is finished playing, it is going to feel like a desert.”

The City boss repeatedly denied he was trying to take the Argentina star, who has now agreed a contract extension, to the Etihad.

Breaking: Messi Signs 500,000 Pounds Per Week Barcelona Deal To Stay Till 2021

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has signed a new four-year deal with the club, keeping him with the Spanish giants until 2021, the Barcelona said on its Twitter page on Wednesday.

It is reported that the Argentine star will receive £500,000-a-week with €300m release clause.
Five times a Ballon d’Or winner, the Argentinean forward was entering the final 12 months of his current deal before the new one was agreed.

Reuters reported that Messi, who scored 37 times in La Liga last season, has been at Barcelona since the age of 13, rising through their youth system to become one of the most successful and recognisable footballers in the world.

The 30-year-old follows in the footsteps of teammates and fellow strikers Luis Suarez and Neymar, who signed new deals last season.

Local media reports indicate the deal will see Messi remain as the club’s highest earner, while his buyout clause has been upped to 300 million euros.

50 Cent wasn’t shy about telling the world how he felt about Jay-Z’s new album “4:44.” The “In Da Club” rapper posted an Instagram video on Wednesday criticizing his latest release.
“I thought the s— was aight, you know what I’m sayin’? I liked the s—. But I’ma keep it 100: The s— was a little, the s— was too smart. I felt like I was supposed to be wearing glasses and s—, and tie a f—ing sweater around my waist. It was like Ivy League s—.”

Within just a week, “4:44” has gained platinum status while stirring up the hip-hop community. Along with issues over “4:44’s” platinum certification, Tidal, which exclusively released Jay-Z’s latest, is in the midst of a dust-up with Kanye West, who claims the company owes him $3 million.
“4:44” also drummed up controversy with its release method. When it first debuted on June 30, it was unavailable to Tidal users who signed up that same day, drawing backlash over social media. On Monday, Tidal changed course and made the album available to all subscribers

Jay-Z’s album goes platinum in just Five days!

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) just announced that Jay Z’s 4:44 album has gone platinum less than a week after the album’s release. Going platinum simply certifies that a record has been sold 1 million times.
Though critics argue that the album,4:44 was released on June 30th exclusively to Tidal subscribers and Sprint customers and anyone who hadn’t signed up for Tidal prior to the album’s release wasn’t able to listen to it, unless they were also a Sprint customer, therefore it's almost impossible for it to go platinum.
The RIAA however says, 'Props to JAY, he’s done it again! 4:44 Certified Platinum. Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career'.

BY DAILYTRUST NEWSPAPERJUL 04, 2017
At least, 150 people were killed last week in the clash between Wanikade and Wanihem communities in Yala LGA of Cross River State.
The Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), John Inaku, who confirmed the figure in a statement yesterday, said 1,233 houses were destroyed and 14,000 people displaced at Ukele North in the same Yala LGA following the communal clash.
The SEMA boss said the communal clash erupted as a result of a land dispute, adding that it had created an upheaval which led to the fleeing of the inhabitants of about 41 villages to neighbouring communities in Yala and Oju LGAs in Benue State.
Four Internally Displaces Persons (IDP) camps established in Oju LGA  by the Benue State Government have been swarmed by unprecedented refuge-seeking victims from the affected communities, according to Mr Samuel Oko, secretary of the LGA, who said some of them were camped in churches, schools, and community halls.
Some of the IDPs said they arrived Oju on June 27 when the crisis escalated and had been hosted by the communities who had provided them with food and shelter.
The Cross River State SEMA and the state Food Bank Commission have however relieved them of the trauma by distributing food and non-food items to the victims of the camp, sources said.

Uniosun students in protest over missing colleagues

Earlier, two  400-level students of Computer Engineering, Robert Akinduro and Sameul Eke, disappeared since September 5, 2016.

The cases prompted the students to stage a protest against the disappearance of their fellow students.

Dressed in uniform black shirts and trousers, the students chanted war songs and attacked motorists, motorcyclists and journalists.

The students invaded the NUJ Correspondent Chapel’s office on Fagbewesa Street and slapped a female journalist, Seun Adesokan, while others were manhandled for daring to take their photographs.

The irate students broke the gate into Habeeb Filling Station on Odi Olowo Street, drew fuel by force and stole bottles of drink at the supermarket on the premises of the filling station.

The students also made bonfires on the Osogbo-Gbogan Road, and later marched towards the state secretariat, where the Governor’s Office was located.

All the roads leading to Olaiya Junction were barricaded and some of the students stayed back to ensure that the roads were not cleared.

One of the residents, Akin Adenitan, told our correspondent  that the students mobbed a popular Yoruba actor, Olaniyi Afonja, aka Sanyeri, while he was trying to withdraw money at Sterling Bank.

Adenitan said, “There was a drama at Sterling Bank ATM point when the protesting students saw a popular Yoruba actor, Sanyeri, on the bank premises.

“On sighting the actor, the students started shouting his name and rushed towards him. Sanyeri, who sensed that he might be mobbed, tried to run away, but he was caught and the students asked him to give them money.”

“The students berated Governor Rauf Aregbesola for keeping silent on the missing students, saying he did not make any statement because the victims were not “children of prominent politicians.”

Security operatives deployed to quell the protest were initially civil, but later dispersed the students when they noticed that they (students) had become tired.

It was gathered that some of the protesting students were arrested by the police, but the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said none of the students was arrested.

He said the students showed their grievances and left the streets for their hostels.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, has commiserated with Shonibare family over the killing of their son.

In a statement on Wednesday, the commissioner appealed to the students to be calm.

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr.  Najeem Salaam, also expressed sadness at the murder.

The Speaker, in a statement, called on security agencies to flush out those engaged in criminal activities in the  university environment.

He said, “The state will not allow men and women of wicked intention to hold sway in a university environment.

“Security operatives arrested some suspects, which is commendable and promising in crime fighting.

“The host community should provide security agencies with information. The killing of  that innocent student is unacceptable and will be treated with seriousness.”Uniosun students in protest over missing colleagues
