BUSTED! NDLEA Catch 200 Suspected Drug Traffickers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command on Tuesday said it arrested no fewer than 200 suspected drug traffickers and convicted 39 persons in the state in 2018.
NDLEA Commandant, Mrs Omolade Faboyede, while addressing journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, added that the convicts were sentenced to different jail terms ranging from 6 months to 10 years.
She also disclosed that 5,593.426 kilograms of illicit drugs were seized from the suspects, indicating a decrease from the 7,090.34 kilograms seized in 2017.
Faboyede said that the command gave drug intervention to 102 persons, among whom are eight people who have been rehabilitated and successfully integrated into the society.
She said that the reduction in the demand for drug in the state was as a result of the deliberate activities of the command.
She advised members of the public to always report any suspicious movements to the authorities concerned to enable them rid the society of criminal activities.“Our enlightenment campaigns against drug abuse and trafficking in the state are yielding positive results as we reach out to all and sundry, including primary and secondary school, tertiary institutions, private organizations and government establishments”.

BREAKING NEWS! Chelsea Complete Signing Of Dortmund Star Christian Pulisic

Chelsea have signed Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic for 64m euros (£58m), but will loan him to the German club until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old United States international, who was linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, joined Dortmund as a youth player in 2015.
Pulisic has scored nine goals in 23 games for the US.
“It was always Christian’s dream to play in the Premier League,” said Dortmund director Michael Zorc.
“That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract.
“Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.”
Pulisic’s contract at Dortmund was due to expire in June 2020

11-Year-Old Boy Hacks Government Website, Changes Election Results

An 11-year-old boy, Emmett Brewster managed to hack into a replica of Florida’s election results website in 10 minutes, change names and tallies.

Brewster was the fastest of 35 children, ages six to 17, who all hacked into copies of the pseudo-election website of six swing states during the three-day DEFCON security convention.

According to DEFCON, the event was meant to test the strength of U.S. election infrastructure and details of the vulnerabilities would be passed onto the states.

The National Association of Secretaries of State, charged for tallying votes welcomed DEFCON’s innovation and stated that the true methods utilized by states would have further protections.

“It will be extraordinarily tough to copy those methods since many states make the most of the distinctive networks and custom-built databases with new and up to date safety protocols,” the association stated.

The hacking demonstration came as concerns swirl about election system vulnerabilities before mid-term state and federal elections.

The young participants changed party names, candidate names and added as many as 12billion votes to candidates.

Candidate names were changed to ‘Bob Da Builder’ and ‘Richard Nixon’s head’,”

The convention’s “Voting Village” also aimed to expose security issues in other systems such as digital poll books and memory-card readers.

Hazard Speaks On Becoming Chelsea’s New Captain

Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard has hinted that he may be about taking over the captain’s armband at the club.

The 27-year-old Belgian forward is set to stay on at Stamford Bridge for the 2018/19 campaign following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival after being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Recent reports have suggested that new manager, Maurizio Sarri could hand Hazard the captain armband in an attempt to keep the Belgian at the club.

England defender, Gary Cahill was appointed skipper last season but a lack of playing time under Antonio Conte saw Cesar Azpilicueta being often handed the responsibility.

Azpilicueta once again led the team in their 3-0 victory over Huddersfield at the weekend, with Hazard making a 14-minute cameo appearance in the second half at the John Smith’s Stadium.

However, Hazard dropped a hint on Twitter that he could be named captain for the remainder of the season after Chelsea’s win.

Hazard changed his cover picture to a photograph of himself wearing the captain’s armband of Chelsea which was taken during the side’s pre-season clash with Lyon.

The Belgium international almost immediately changed the photo but not before eagle-eyed Chelsea fans succeeded in sharing it across social media.

14-year-old Boy Running For Governor In United States

Most 14-year-old American schoolboys might be fixated on baseball, chasing girls and dodging their homework. Not Ethan Sonneborn. He’s running for governor in Vermont.

The teenager is taking advantage of a quirk in the constitution of the bucolic northeastern state that imposes no age limit on running for governor. Candidates only have to have lived in Vermont for at least four years.

Ethan, happily for his campaign, has lived in the state for 14. He faces a crowded field of adult rivals in Tuesday’s Democratic gubernatorial primary.

His website proclaims him a champion for middle- and working-class families, with “the right ideas” on healthcare reform, economic development and education never mind that he’s still years from graduating high school.

He identifies with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, which has been increasingly in the ascendant in the United States since the ultimately thwarted run for president by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in 2016.

“I think I’m the candidate who best represents the change we need,” he told a televised town hall event earlier this month.

His rivals include Christine Hallquist, running to become America’s first transgender governor, James Ehlers, a Navy veteran and environmentalist, and Brenda Siegel, the executive director of a dance festival.

But despite praise for Sonneborn’s “maturity” and political awareness, his campaign has attracted calls for Vermont lawmakers to close the loophole.

“I think we should probably take a look at that to be perfectly honest,” Republican Governor Phil Scott told reporters when asked if he thought 14-year-olds should be eligible to run.

“I think you should at least be able to get your driver’s license at the time that you become governor.”

Scott, 60, has been at the helm of Vermont since 2016 and is running for re-election, facing Keith Stern, who runs a fruits and vegetable business, in the state’s gubernatorial Republican primary, also on Tuesday.

Spanish Giants Real Madrid Set To Win Third Club World Cup

European champions Real Madrid begin their campaign to win a third Club World Cup with a semi-final against Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are aiming to become the first team to win the competition in successive seasons.

Barcelona are the only team to have won the Club World Cup three times since it was launched in 2000.

The competition features Fifa’s six reigning confederation champions plus the league winners of the host country.

Real were given a bye into the semi-finals and their opponents Al Jazira are in the tournament as they are the Arabian Gulf League champions.

They set up their meeting with Madrid by beating New Zealand’s Auckland City in the play-off. They then followed that up with victory over Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid won the competition in 2014 and 2016 but defender Marcelo is taking nothing for granted in his side’s pursuit of a fifth trophy in 2017.

“Nothing is easy, especially in football. I’ve played in two Club World Cups and won them both, but it was difficult,” he said.

“Nothing comes easy at Madrid. I’ve been here for many years and everything’s been tough. We’ve won a lot of titles, but we’ve had to work for it.”

If Madrid win they will face Brazilian side Gremio in Saturday’s final after they beat Pachuca of Mexico 1-0 after extra time in the other semi-final.
